Introduction: Why this EMODF blog?

"Hey Steve, 2005 called and they want their blog back."

In a day and age where everyone is starting a newsletter or podcast, I decided to write a blog.


Because I'm selling a course to insurance producers (brokers, account executives, managers, you get the idea) about BUILDING THEIR OWN PERSONAL MARKETING SYSTEM.

And what better way to show how something works than to actually show it in action. A blog gives me the space to go into detail.

I mean, if it was me buying this course from me, I'd want to see how it works. Hence the title, "Eating My Own Dog Food" or EMODF. Because if I can't build a pipeline for my own course, using the same techniques I'm selling, why in god's name should I expect you to buy it?

But that's the thing. I know the system works. I ran it for years at Policy Works. Even in markets where no one knew about us, we ran campaigns and got great traction.

This blog is a documentary of me developing a marketing campaign promoting my service. Nothing more. Nothing less.

I will share everything from why I chose a niche (insurance), how I developed my strategy, positioning and all the tactical execution stuff (what, how, how much, results, etc.).

Why did I start this blog? I have been around the insurance industry for over 20 years. I know brokers, especially producers, struggle with marketing. I want to help. I can help.

This blog is my promise to walk you through the process start-to-finish. I'll be completely transparent. Hold nothing back. And at the risk of never selling a course or workshop, I'll share every failure.

My hope is that you'll pick up something useful along the way.

With that, let's get to it.
